A gas mask is built to erase a face. Standard issue, interchangeable, a piece of kit with a number stamped on the canister. Super Angry Face draws them back into people.
Each sketch hands a lifeless mask a temper, a mood, a bad morning: the one who is bored, the one who is afraid, the one who is somewhere else entirely. Forty-odd faces, drawn in a single sitting, no two breathing the same way.
They lived through two wars inside these things. The collection is a small insistence that someone was still in there.
